About US

COPS4, Citizens Organization for Police Support in the NOPD Fourth District is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the 4th District Officers in New Orleans. The 4th District encompasses all of Algiers, which is located on the Westbank of New Orleans. Our commitment is to make New Orleans a safer place to live, work and visit.

COPS4 is governed by a Board of Directors who serve as volunteers and is funded by donations, membership dues, fundraisers and the sale of T-shirts from a vending machine located at the Algiers Ferry Landing. With the funds we raise, we fund items for the 4th District the City of New Orleans does not provide. One hundred percent of funds raised are used exclusively to enhance the effectiveness and morale of the Officers of the 4th District.

We aim to foster a spirit of cooperation between the Police Department and the community of citizens it serves. Our goal is to promote a positive image of police officers in the community and to encourage good will and mutual understanding between police officers and the general public.

Participation in COPS4 provides an opportunity for community interaction with the officers as well as an opportunity for both to receive informational updates.

COPS 4 supplies the following items when needed  to the 4th District when funds are not available from the city:

  • Scooters, helmets, patrol bicycles, repairs and supplies

  • Computers, printers, fax machines, inkjet cartridges, flash drives, security system

  • Office furniture, lamps, light bulbs

  • Air conditioners

  • Station renovations such as wall paint or new flooring

  • Housekeeping
